Lynne Angland
Lynne Angland
Lynne Angland, a diligent advocate for children and families, immensely contributed to improving the lives of Oregonians through her service, passion and leadership. Lynne served as Vice-Chair of the Commission for Child Care since 2004. Appointed by Governor Kulongoski, in the Tax and Legal position, Lynne provided expertise on the availability of safe, quality and affordable child care. As the owner of a prominent accounting firm in Prineville, Oregon, Lynne brought in-depth knowledge to the Commission. As a former owner of a child care center, which she opened as a benefit to her employees, Lynne personally understood the need for creative financing strategies such as the use of tax credits to businesses that offer child care benefits to employees.

Speaking at Governor Kulongoski's bill signing ceremony on July 29th, 2005, Lynne spoke passionately about the benefits of the Employer Dependent Care Tax Credit. In her advocacy, she spoke about the return on investment employers receive by providing child care benefits to their employees. "Because of this legislation, I'll be able to continue offering child care assistance to my employees. By leveraging my business dollars, the parent's dollars and our tax dollars, we are buying more for our children and working parents. In return, we are gaining a stronger workforce for our economy."

Lynne brilliantly led change in Oregon by her example as a businesswoman, spokesperson and advocate for issues in which she held deep commitment and passion. The Commission for Child Care has been privileged to work with Lynne as a thoughtful expert who consistently and diligently served to improve the lives of children and families. Members of the Commission for Child Care will deeply feel the loss of Lynne. As expressed by the Chair, Rosetta Wangerin, "I have no words to convey how much I will personally miss Lynne. She had a profound impact on so many of us as we worked together, but I was always struck by the personal inner strength Lynne always exhibited. Her unwavering dedication to the many areas she volunteered her time is a space no other will be able to fill."
